Visit with Oscar Mmbali

There is an online visit scheduled with Oscar Mmbali for Friday, June 25th at 7:00 pm. Oscar Mmbali is a Friends United Meeting (FUM) field staff member, a Kenyan serving in Belize. Oscar’s main assignment is nurturing the growth of the meeting in Belize City. His approach focused on attracting youth and young adults in succeeding in growing this new meeting. Part of the proceeds from the recent AFM Quaker Market went to the FUM Global Solidarity fund, focused currently on needs caused by COVID-19. Oscar will fill us in on these needs in Belize and the ways such gifts are being used there. The AFM Ministry & Worship Committee is sponsoring this event.

Spiritual Friendship / Community Group – Weekend

On June 26th (Saturday) at 10:30 pm, the Weekend Spiritual Friendship / Community Group will be meeting in-person at the meetinghouse. The Weekend Spiritual Friendship / Community Group will be meeting monthly on Saturdays. The group is mainly meant as a way to build community, spiritual support, and share our spiritual journeys and questions about spirituality. This group is open to anyone affiliated with Annapolis Friends Meeting.  While planned as a “hybrid” meeting where some people will meet in-person outside on the Meetinghouse patio and others will be joining via zoom, due to technical difficulties the group is only meeting in person. Please look for updates for those who want to participate via zoom in the next few months.

If you are interested in participating in this group, please email Jo Anne Schneider (joanneschneider77@gmail.com).

Friends Writing Together Group

At 12:30pm on Sunday, June 27th, Friends Writing Together allows us to indulge our creative selves and let words pour from our deepest places. What arrives may be a funny or poignant memory, a work of fiction, new lyrics or a poem, often surprising us with where we have been led. During the gathering, writing prompts are offered which begin the flow, and we write for 8 minutes. We then have the option to share our writing with the other participants, who offer not critique, but what moved them. We are a warm, welcoming group, so if you would like to put pen to paper or fingertips to keyboard, join us.

5th Night Light – Every Thursday evening

From 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm on every Thursday, the AFM community engages in a spiritual practice that acknowledges the Light of God within each person and that to be in community is to actively care for one another. During that time, Friends hold people and situations who need additional spiritual support in the Light. Friends will pause wherever they may be, read the list of names, and hold each person or situation in our hearts and in the Light. On Wednesday, the list of names or situations are sent out to the AFM-Announce list.
