Book Discussion with Jonathan Balcombe
On March 20 (Sunday) at 7pm on Zoom: Does a fish have a Light Within? Jonathan Balcombe, author of the New York Times best-seller “What a Fish Knows: The Inner Lives of Our Underwater Cousins”, will tell us why he has come to see fishes as fellow sentients and how our food choices affect them and their habitat. With a combination of science and amusing storytelling, his book opens our eyes about how much we have in common with fish in terms of memory, feelings, communication and social relationships, not to mention sneakiness and smarts. This opportunity was brought to our attention by Baltimore Yearly Meeting’s (BYM’s) Right Relationship with Animals Working Group.

Welcome Gathering
On April 10, 2022 (Sunday) from 9:15 am until 10:45 am, there will be an in-person celebration at the meetinghouse marking our return to the meetinghouse after more than two years of being away. This event is sponsored by the Outreach and Pastoral Care committees. A time to reconnect with those we haven’t seen in person since the Pandemic began, and to meet new attendees, so that we can welcome them in person. There will be hot and cold beverages, muffins, donuts, and fruit available. For anyone interested, we will have tours of the meeting house, the library and the grounds. We are looking forward to the warmth and connectedness of an in-person gathering. Hoping to see you there.

5th Night Light – Every Thursday evening
From 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm every Thursday, the AFM community engages in a spiritual practice that acknowledges the Light of God within each person and that to be in community is to actively care for one another. During that time, Friends hold people and situations who need additional spiritual support in the Light. Friends will pause wherever they may be, read the list of names, and hold each person or situation in our hearts and in the Light. On Wednesday, the list of names or situations are sent out to the AFM-Announce list.
