Quaker Market is our twice-a-year community builder/fundraiser.
There will be fantastic food, flea market treasures, plants and bulbs, handcrafted items, olive oil from Bethlehem and baskets from Kenya, as well as Afghan rugs, jewelry, scarves, etc.
Flea market treasures are not priced; shoppers pay what they think is fair for what they are purchasing.
Market proceeds go to a wide array of causes. We rotate beneficiaries with each sale. The first $250 raised goes to our children’s program, and they determine a charity that they would like to support. The remaining funds are split between three causes. Recent recipients include Orphan Grain Train (for their hurricane relief work in Puerto Rico), Wellness House of Annapolis (providing free support services for those whose lives have been touched by cancer), and our very own Wamama Wa Sanaa (artisan self-help group for widows in Kenya), Afghan Women’s Fund, Catoctin Quaker Camp’s Green Bath House Project, Centro de Ayuda—Center of Help, and The Light House.
