One of the tenets of Quaker testimony is the belief that we are collectively and individually entrusted by God to be caretakers of our world. As our planet is increasingly threatened by Climate Change we need to be able to talk about this “hot-button” issue with others in a calm non-threatening manner in order to hear others and to quietly search for commonality and a path forward.
Tammy Mayer, daughter of Annapolis Friend, Ellen M, is committed to effecting positive environmental change person, by person. She founded One Climate Action as a means to extend the work she was already engaged in.
An Annapolis Friend writing about this video said it is “powerful” and is “one of the most effective interviews I’ve ever heard” adding that it’s “full of information about how to talk to people and organizations … who don’t yet see [climate change] or get it or see what they can” do about it.
We hope you will take a few moments to watch this video about the work Tammy is engaged in, and how her conversation training might be helpful to you and your interest and efforts in helping our communities and the planet deal with climate change.
Climate-Duluth host Tone Lanzillo interviews Tammy Mayer of One Climate Action. Nov 20, 2023
Thank you for posting this interview here! I’d be thrilled to hear what you think of the ideas and communications techniques I shared here in my discussion with Tone Lanzillo.
This is a most helpful and inspiring set of everyday tools and perspectives that those of us who support and promote protecting our earth and our fragile climate can use in our conversations with those who see it with less urgency or reject concerns about the environment. It is SO worth listening to! Tammy Mayer has handed us all a practical and powerful lifeline for our earth.
