Holding Los Angeles – The City of Angels In the Light

Your grief is our grief. Your heartbreak is our heartbreak.

But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

~ Isaiah 40:31

Though this image bespeaks an ancient tale of love and loss the grief it communicates is potent. It is posted here to convey something of our understanding of the widespread loss and grief being experienced by so many in the wake of the wildfires that have born down on the City of Angels

Artwork: “The Brid Bride” Etching by Frederick Stuart Church, American, 1842–1924. CCO Smithsonian, Cooper Hewitt Design Museum.
The artwork references a story which “is part of a cycle of animal bride tales that appear in cultures around the world, even though those cultures seem to have had little contact with each other. This suggests that the story is very old, and that it may come from a time when the boundaries between species were more fluid.” Dr. Boria Sax.
