The Friends Historical Association – Invites you on A Walking Tour!
The FHA sends this invitation to their Spring Event via email:
A Walking Tour of Arden, Delaware
“You Are Welcome Hither”
The Friends Historical Association (FHA) Spring Event will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2022. We will enjoy a walking tour of the historic Village of Arden, Delaware.
We are finally in person! The event is free, and all are welcome to attend.
The Village of Arden, Delaware, was founded in 1900 as a single-tax community by Quaker architect William Price and sculptor Frank Stephens. They were influenced by the Arts and Crafts Movement and allowed craftspeople to come to pursue their crafts. Today, it is a non-suburban community with varied inhabitants, including artists and performers.
Our day will begin at 10:00 AM with optional morning Worship at Wilmington Friends Meeting, followed by a brown bag lunch, with dessert and beverages provided by Wilmington Friends. We will then head to Arden, arriving by noon for an introductory talk in the Arden Gild Hall and then a walking tour of the village.
Schedule of Events:
10:00 AM– Optional Worship at Wilmington Friends Meeting (401 N West St, Wilmington, DE 19801); brown bag lunch to follow.
12:00 PM– Introductory talk at Arden Gild Hall (2126 The Hwy, Arden, DE, 19810), followed by a walking tour of the Village of Arden, Delaware.
Please pre-register so that we know to expect you. There is no cost to register; all are welcome.
For planning purposes, we ask that you register no later than 5:00 PM EDT on Saturday, April 30.
