Climate Change & Liberation – A concert, a new song, and a record release party

A Friend shares the following note and emailed invitation, concerning a concert relating to liberation and climate change. It will be held on September 23rd at our neighboring house of worship, The Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis on Dubois Road.

Joshua Long is a musician and a congregational organizer for Interfatih Power and Light.  Sounds like a great opportunity to listen to music and meet other folks in the area who are also concerned about climate change.  Tickets are very reasonable.  Hope to see some of you there.

From Joshua Logan:

I am writing to invite you to join me for a concert of my music in Annapolis on Saturday evening 9/23 – it’s a Single Release Party to celebrate the worldwide release of my new song, Liberation.

When I was working on my Masters in Divinity degree (M.Div), I specialized in public theology. For my capstone project, I decided to do a musical thesis – I composed and produced an album of worship music that links faith, climate, and justice together. In my reflection paper, and work leading up to it, I pulled from Liberation theologians of all kinds; womanist, Black liberation, Latin American. Along the way, a song arose that captured the essential idea of our collective liberation.

One of the things I love about ministry and faith-based organizing is the importance of spiritual community and soul nourishment. Music is one of the primary ways that I practice resilience and stay inspired as we work together for climate and environmental justice.

The concert is Saturday, September 23, at 7 PM. Doors are at 6:00, with a pre-show reception for those who purchase the VIP ticket. The reception is an opportunity to build relationships among those working for climate justice across Anne Arundel County. You will also get to learn more about the music and my vision for climate justice. There is limited space for the reception and the Church only holds 200 – so you will want to get a ticket! A recording of the show will be made available for those who wish.

Tickets ($20 regular admission, $40 VIP) can be purchased here: bit.ly/earthliberation

If you have any questions or want more details, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
