Kunte Kinte Heritage Festival

The Kunte Kinte Heritage Festival is an annual, free, family-oriented event for all ages to enjoy live music and dance performances, world foods and artisan vendors, as well as heritage and history of the African Diaspora. The festival is located at the Susan Campbell Park on Dock Street, Annapolis. On September 25th from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm the Outreach Committee will have a table at the festival and is seeking volunteers to greet people at the table and talk about AFM as a welcoming and inclusive religious organization.  Please contact the committee to volunteer: Patty R, Arielle J, Joan M, Fran P, or Cecile T.   For more information about the festival, click on the following link: Kunte Kinte website.

World Quaker Day 2021

On October 3rd 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm, AFM will be celebrating World Quaker Day along with Quakers worldwide. The AFM Education Committee will provide a 90-minute presentation with a panel of three speakers and three videos after MfW. The presenters include Ann R., Karen P., and Peter M.

AFM Fall Workday (Oct. 9)

Two times each year, Meeting House & Land (MH&L) sponsors a workday at the meetinghouse where F/friends can join together and do minor repairs, rake leaves, weed gardens, clean windows, empty gutters and more. It is a time of fellowship and a communal response to keeping the meetinghouse and ground is good repair. The next Workday will be held at the meetinghouse on October 9th.

The Pumpkin Patch 

The Lighthouse Shelter in Annapolis will be selling thousands of pumpkins for a good cause. The fundraiser is geared at helping homeless citizens in Anne Arundel County. Starting on October 2nd through October 31st, the pumpkins will be displayed on the lawn in front of St. Martin’s Lutheran Church at 1120 Spa Rd, Annapolis, MD 21403. On Saturday & Sunday, the Pumpkin Patch is open for business from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm and from  1:00 pm to 6:30 during the week.

Traditionally, AFM members & attenders help sell the pumpkins and volunteers are needed to sign up. Please contact Marcia O. and let her know when you would be willing to be onsite. Check the Directory for her contact information or send an email addressed to her using info@annapolisfriends.org.

Meetings for Worship

There are three (3) kinds of  worship at Annapolis Friends Meeting (AFM):

  1. Spiritually connected, physically apart and without technology at 8:00 am on the 2nd, 4th and 5th Sundays
  2. In-Person at the meetinghouse. Attendees will practice physical-distancing and stay home if ill. Masks are optional outdoors. Masks are to be worn when inside the meetinghouse if there is more than one person, unless those present agree to not wear masks. F/friends are encouraged to be respectful of each person’s comfort level
    • 8:00 am on the 2nd, 4th and 5th Sundays
    • 11:00 am on the 1st & 3rd Sundays
    • 7:00 pm one time per month, the 1st Tuesday – See North County Meeting on calendar
