Path Forward Committee – Update
What is the Meeting doing to open up? What steps are being done to move past the closure? Much has been happening and the Path Forward Committee (PFC) has a plan. As of June 6, 2021 at the Meeting for Worship (MfW) with Attention to Business (wAtB), Meeting approved the following:
- Masks are to be worn if more than one person is inside the meetinghouse.
- Logging in was discontinued.
- Socializing outside the meetinghouse is allowed when other events are not scheduled. See the calendar for scheduled events.
- Early Meeting worshippers may move inside the meetinghouse if the weather is uncomfortable or inclement.
- Committees can hold in-person meetings inside the meetinghouse and negotiate amongst themselves if they will wear masks or not. Friends are encouraged to listen to each other and respect the comfort level of each person.
- PFC and the Pastoral Care Committee can work together to hold memorial meetings for AFM community members provided that the CDC guidelines and federal, state or county regulations are followed.
The PFC will continue its work and provided the following plan at the June MfW wAtB.
- June:
- Test drive the new equipment for meetings that will have both in-person attendees and Zoom participants, also known as “hybrid” or “blended” meetings. One “Hybrid Test Drive” meeting was conducted by a sub-group of the PFC in the Multi-Purpose Room (MPR) using the Owl and the two new laptops for the first time. The Owl is a special piece of equipment that is a 3-in-1 device. The Owl has a camera, multiple microphones and multiple speakers to provide 360-degrees of coverage in the MPR.
- Continue to seek feedback from F/friends with regards to holding hybrid/blended meetings.
- Begin to discuss the protocols for rental groups.
- July:
- Possibly bring a proposal to July MfW wAtB with regards to opening the meetinghouse to AFM social groups, AFM-affiliated groups and renters.
- August:
- Looking toward fully opening the meetinghouse.

5th Night Light – Every Thursday evening
From 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm on every Thursday, the AFM community engages in a spiritual practice that acknowledges the Light of God within each person and that to be in community is to actively care for one another. During that time, Friends hold people and situations who need additional spiritual support in the Light. Friends will pause wherever they may be, read the list of names, and hold each person or situation in our hearts and in the Light. On Wednesday, the list of names or situations are sent out to the AFM-Announce list.
