– sit quietly, together, in silent waiting
– seek to know the presence of the Divine Spirit
– wait for that “still small voice”
We believe that each human being is endowed with an inner light or divine spirit. Many of us define that as God. So it is during this time of worship when Friends settle into the silence to see what is revealed by the Light, to listen for the Word which lies at the heart of our ground of being.
While this is an individualistic search, we recognize that each of us is engaged in a similar quest. In the safe environment where Friends all around us are freely worshiping in this manner, some are stimulated to share the message they receive, that which is growing beyond their individual concerns and takes on a wider, more universal meaning.
